Would you like to help those in need and have some fun?

2024 is a special year for us as we were chartered 25 years ago. Our President Janet Turley and club members are very proud of what we have achieved since our charter. Please have a look at our Community Service Report page.

Our Club theme is "LIGHT UP ROTARY" and although some spending time in lockdown our Past President Gill Monsell and members managed to help with the provision of laptops for school pupils in the UK enabling them to do their schoolwork at home.

We also provided a Cytoscope for the Tribal Health Initiative in Sitilingi, Tamil Nadu, India as well as funding to our Ugandan charity SALVE helping them to get more street children into shelter and education during lockdown. The Cytoscope for Sitilingi was a very expensive item and we were fortunate in that we were able to obtain a grant from Rotary Foundation for both the Sitilingi and SALVE projects. We also had some financial assistance from the Rotary Club of Kimbolton Castle towards the Sitilingi project.

Gill along with her husband Nick were able to visit the Tribal Health Initiative at Sitilingi whilst on a recent visit to India and they were both very impressed with the work done and the dedication of the staff.

Another Past President, Barbara Norton chose to support Guide Dogs for the Blind and we were thrilled that we were able to raise enough funds to be able to name a guide dog. Barbara and her guide dog Tommy regularly journeyed by train and tube to her place of work at Moorfields Hospital in London. Barbara has now retired and Tommy enjoyed his retirement whilst Barbara worked with her new novice guide dog.

Although we were unable to meet in person due to Covid restrictions we still held interesting weekly Zoom meetings and we have been able to team up with the Calgary Club in Canada and Sri Lankan Club helping to support their Global Grant application for 3D limb Printing in Sri Lanka.
