Recent Events
- A quiz held at The White Horse, Newnham Ave, Bedford. Almost £500 was raised which along with a matching grant enables us to fund essential fencing for the Elizabeth Curtis Riding School for the Disabled. We have also raised over £500 at a Wine Tasting event for Autism and £520 from a collection at Sainsbury's for The Guildhouse in Bedford. Our recent Car Boot Sale Stall raised £203 for Street Children in Uganda.
- Our Royal Navy night at The Star Rowing Club raised over £1,100 for the Royal Naval Charity and Rotary charities.
- A joint event with the Rotary Club of Kempston at an Auction House was a great success. There was a very interesting talk on the running of an Auction House followed by a fun competition and buffet. The evening raised almost £800 for local charities supported by Rotary.
- A very useful fund raiser was made possible by Bedford Dramatic Club who generously donated First Night Tickets for their latest production " God of Carnage" . A total of £385.00. was raised from this event for St John's Hospice at Moggerhanger
- A Live Band Evening at the White Horse, Newnham Ave, Bedford on 26th September raised £558 for The Road Victims Trust. Many thanks to Albany Down for providing the music. Also thanks to Nigel and Sue Anstead of The White Horse.
- A quiz night held at the White Horse on 4th March raised over £700 for Road Victims Trust. Once again we thank Nigel and Sue Anstead of the White Horse.
- Once again Bedford Drama Club generously donated first night tickets to us for a performance at The Place Theatre of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing enabling us to make a donation of £501.00 to the MS THERAPY CENTRE in Barkers Lane, Bedford.
- Another successful Quiz Night in November at The White Horse enabled us to make another donation of £500 to the MS Therapy Centre. Our thanks go to the new landlord of the White Horse, Rob and his team.
- Our Shackleton evening at the Star Rowing Club raised over £700 for Emmaus and Rotary Charities. Our grateful thanks go to the staff at Star Rowing Club and our speaker Debby Horsman for making the evening very enjoyable.
- Another successful Auction House Evening raised over £300 for the President Darren's charity of choice for the year. Darren has chosen Emmaus who do brilliant work with the homeless and other less fortunate persons by giving them accomodation and assistance with turning their lives around.
- Recently a very enjoyable Sunday Afternoon Tea raised almost £300 for the Rotary Purple for Polio Campaign.
- A splendid evening of Wine Tasting in February and excellent food raised £490.00. for our President Liz's charity for this year which is Beds and Cambs Rural Support. This is a local charity providing help and support to those living in rural communities.
- Friday 13th April we had a very enjoyable Quiz Evening at the Star Rowing Club in Bedford raising almost £500 for President Liz's charity. Star Rowing Club looked after us very well and we will certainly be going back there.
- An evening at W & H Peacocks new premises on 27th June raised £734.00 for Guide Dogs for the Blind. The staff were very informative about how an Auction House operates Good food and a lighthearted competition rounded off a very enjoyable evening.
